“Why not painting without painting?” The Valencian artist Messa (Albaida, 1915-1996) wondered amid its drive to combine old, useless, absurd objects.

Francesc Sempere Fernández de Mesa, confined in his house-workshop in Albaida, undertook a free path of constant experimentation among combinatorial influences of Dada, art-brut and Environnements that the exhibition at MuVIM will present in a wide sample of his career production.

The recreation of his workshop, full of objects “papered” with newspapers, along with the self-styled series Art gandul, Apegasants and white paints, will allow to discover the maverick spirit and the throb of a bold artist, constant in his erotic drawings full of irony.

The exhibition “Messa. Palpitacions i art gandul” is an excellent opportunity for the recovery of a lonely and indomitable author, whom the society of his time failed to appreciate.
