WORK / 1982-84
Messa is transforming his house in Albaida into a museum, the old factory is a workshop-museum, the loft, the roof, he is transforming everything little by little, all the walls, everything fixed to them are big pictures, there are even pictures within pictures, sculptures. This work will take years and will only end when Messa stops painting. He has started to wrap articles in newspaper. He ends up wrapping everything, a whole room and everything in it. ENVIRONMENT (artistic ambiance). “Les petites puces de Paris” is what Messa calls it. He will still do more, make some figure-sculptures with wire wrapped in old blankets and string and then wrapped in newspaper, forming pillars and beams as though they were megalithic monuments, Minorcan megaliths or the British Stonehenge, which on being exhibited at the entrance to the Parpalló gallery acted as conductor to lead the visitor into the “environmental” room.
